Nevermind is the 1991 album by American rock band Nirvana and features one of the most famous album covers in popular music. The album became an unexpected critical and commercial success and has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. The now-famous album cover was conceived by Kurt Cobain while watching a tv show about water births with Dave Grohl. Cobain mentioned it to Geffen Record’s art director Robert Fisher, who hired photographer Kirk Weddle to visit a local pool for babies. From this photoshoot, a photo of four-month-old Spencer Elden, the son of a friend of Weddle, became the cover of Nevermind. A few months after the original baby shot, Kirk Weddle also photographed the entire band underwater for a promotional poster.
