Swiss designer, Donald Brun (1909-1999), designed numerous posters, all of which showcase bright punchy colors, varied textures, and interesting forms. Trained as an advertising illustrator in the 1930’s, Brun is known for using graphic design to bring the products he was advertising to life. This hooptie is based on a 1966 poster for a sports newspaper, that Brun constructed from cut paper to create a character reading the newspaper of which he is made. Even though the fashions and techniques used by graphic designers today are different, Donald Brun’s posters are timeless and still make many people smile.
