In 1971 the founder of Adidas, Adi Dassler, designed the iconic trefoil logo. As the company spread its business in apparel and leisure industry, he realized the need for a more apt logo design that could demonstrate industrial diversity of his company. After over 100 designs, he transformed the original “three-striped” logo into the “trefoil”. The 3 leaves symbolize the Olympic spirit, linked to the three continental plates as well as the heritage and history of the brand. (source: Famous Logos)
