Together, Charles and Ray Eames created some of the most iconic furniture, architecture, interiors, films, and exhibitions of the twentieth century.Their life’s work helped shape how people thought about objects and buildings. They met at Cranbook Academy, not far from Detroit, got married, and moved to Los Angeles to focus on the mass-manufacture of low-cost molded plywood furniture; getting what Charles called “the most of the best to the most for the least.” Frequently photographed in matching clothes, poses, or both, each brought a rich array of talents and contagious enthusiasm to their life/partnership. This hooptie is based on one of Ray’s stunning graphical textiles mid-1940s called Small Dot Pattern.
